Mr. de Silva brings a wealth of experience in banking, finance, and commerce to his role as an observer on the Board of LankaPay. With over 50 years in the industry, he has held various senior positions both locally and internationally, with a particular focus on Credit and Risk.
Having worked with the HSBC Group, Mr. de Silva gained valuable international experience in credit and risk management, eventually serving as Chief Credit Officer and Chief Risk Officer. After retiring from HSBC at the end of 2012, he continued to contribute to the industry through consultancy work in the UK before returning to Sri Lanka in 2016.
Since August 2017, Mr. de Silva has served as the Secretary General at Sri Lanka Banks’ Association (SLBA). He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Sri Lanka and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers UK. Additionally, he is an Attorney at Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka.
Mr. de Silva's extensive expertise and knowledge make him a valuable asset to the banking and finance sector in Sri Lanka specially in his current role representing the member banks of the SLBA.
