Mr. Gamage is a highly experienced and accomplished technology executive with more than 20 years of experience spanning central banking technology, financial market infrastructure, payment systems, enterprise architecture, enterprise applications, cybersecurity, data platforms, emerging technologies and digital transformation.
He currently serves as the Additional Director of Information Technology at the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, where he leads the development and delivery of modern, secure, and resilient technology capabilities that support critical central banking operations. His responsibilities span technology strategy, enterprise architecture, IT governance, data strategy and artificial intelligence, IT risk management, cybersecurity, business continuity, and technology transformation.
Throughout his career at the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Mr. Gamage has played key leadership roles in major technology programmes supporting mission-critical financial systems, national payments and settlements infrastructure, reserve management, treasury operations, cash center management, financial market infrastructure, critical central banking operations, and enterprise services. His work has contributed to strengthening technology governance, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, project delivery, and data capabilities across the Bank, with a focus on establishing future-ready, secure, scalable, and resilient technology foundations. With extensive experience in technology programme and project management, he has led several strategic initiatives that enhanced innovation, operational efficiency and institutional capability. A number of these initiatives received national recognition, including awards at the National Best Quality Software Awards.
Mr. Gamage has served on several internal and external committees relating to information technology, procurement and payment technology, contributing technical expertise, strategic leadership and governance insight. He has also represented the Central Bank on technical evaluation and procurement committees involving large-scale technology systems and payment infrastructure.
His contribution to institutional resilience includes cybersecurity maturity assessments, cybersecurity governance, IT risk management, quality assurance and business continuity planning. He has represented the Central Bank of Sri Lanka in engagements with international financial institutions and peer central banks on technology modernisation, cybersecurity, cloud adoption, data management, artificial intelligence and digital transformation.
Mr. Gamage has also contributed to academic research in big data analytics and cloud computing, including research on advanced data analytics techniques and the factors influencing Software-as-a-Service adoption. He holds a Master of Science in Management with First-Class Honours from University College Dublin, National University of Ireland and a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Curtin University, Australia. Mr. Gamage is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified ScrumMaster, ITIL 4 certified professional and ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity.
